Albert 0 1909 Article rating: No rating

What are the primary sources of PFAS?  PFAS manufacturing and processing facilities, airports, and military installations that use firefighting foams are some of the main sources of PFAS.  PFAS may be released into the air, soil, and water, including sources of drinking water.  PFAS are an emerging contaminant issue that is affecting all aspects of everyday life.

The quick and fast definition of PFAS/PFOS: a group of chemicals known as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, that are found in products such as teflon cookware, packaging materials, clothing, carpets and firefighting foams. Exposure to some PFAS chemicals can increase the risk of cancer, damage the immune system, lead to developmental issues in children and decrease a woman's likelihood of getting pregnant, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
